Spent the day on the ice of Sandy Pond with some great friends/clients. The fishing was good with a catch of Perch, Bluegill, and Sunfish. Lots of smaller throw backs, and a 1/2 bucket of keepers. Lets just say that our friends spoiled us. They brought Sausage, Lobster and Fillet Steaks along with all the spices, toppings and the grills and charcoal to cook it all on. Lets just say that the fishing was good, but the friendship and food were better. Thanks guys.
Home for the day
Nice eater size Perch. Sandy Pond is full of these now.
Bluegill on the top…Sunfish on the bottom. Great to eat.

Wonderful day, wonderful wine and wonderful friends. Thanx ladies.
The hard water fishing has been great. Sandy Pond is producing good numbers of Perch, Bluegills and Northern Pike. Its the best perch fishing we have seen in years. Oneida Lakes perch and walleye fishing is getting better each day. Today we had a nice catch of big Perch, we found them in 21 feet of water out from Constantia. The ice conditions are very good, with 12 to 18 inches of ice on most of the lakes and ponds in the area. We’ll be fishing thru march if it holds up. We still have some open dates for ice fishing and float trips. Its been a long winter!! Get out of the house and go fishing. Be safe, and good fishing.
Had a great time today with the family today out on the hard water. Got out on ***** Pond at about 10:30am. Met my bother out there. The fishing was slow, but it ended up being a great day. The weather was just awesome, the burgers and dogs were great the kidz were having a blast catching a few fish (they had more fun playing with the fish after they were caught). One of those days that reminds you that sometimes it’s more about the company you are with, the laughs and food that it is about the fishing. Don’t get me wrong. Most of the time when I go fishing for anything, I tend to be very intense about it. I tend to tune out everything and concentrate on the task at hand. Sometimes though…that’s just not as much fun. Oh yeah… the fish we did catch, Perch and Bluegills, were in about 9′ of water out of Green Point. All the fish came while fishing very small jigs. Patients was the key. The water is very clear, and we also caught most of the fish while sight fishing. The bites were so light, you ofter couldn’t feel it. Watch the jig disappear and lift.
Well it’s that time of year again…time for the outdoor sportshows. Here is a list of the shows with dates and locations. Please stop by to confirm your dates for this year…to book before the calendar gets too full… or to just chat. Hope to see you there.

Over the last week, the Steelhead fishing has improved to what we would call awesome fishing. It doesn’t seem to matter if we are pulling plugs or casting egg sacks, beads or pink worms… the crazy things are just biting. We have been fishing in the top half of the river most days. Most of the fish are still in the fast water, but every day we are catching more in the slow stuff. Sorry for the lack of pictures, my camera was absent for a couple of days.
Two beautiful fish in the first spot at daylight. Nice way to start the day!
The first of three fish in the 2nd. spot of the morning…and the day continued like that.
A little lower in the river, we started to find fresh crome like this.
With more room on the river the fishing has been great. Fish are starting to move back in to the slower deeper water spreading them out more. We still need more water before things freeze up. Spin, fly and plug fisherman are all catching fish. Fish from altmar to route 2A and you will catch fish, some browns are still mixed in with the steelhead. Good luck to all and happy thanks giving.
Well, it seems like over the last week, the fishing has gotten a little more difficult. Heavy fishing pressure, along with low, clear water, have put the fish off the bite a lot lately. Those who fish hard, with confidence and patients, will be rewarded with a nice trout every now and then. We have been taking fish casting with pink and blue egg sacks, pink worms and beads. We have also been catching them on plugs. Here are some examples:
Great fish!
Another great fish!
Yet another…great fish!
Thanx Rich. I will let you know what happens with the Sangria.
Great fish Mike. This buck fell for a glow roe 10mm bead.
